Description
The Pan-African flag is also known as the Afro-American flag, Black Liberation flag, UNIA flag and various other names. It has three colors consisting of three equal horizontal bands of (from top down) red, black and green.
It was created in 1920 to represent people of the African Diaspora and to symbolize black liberation in the United States. As flags symbolize the union of governance, people, and territory, Marcus Garvey created the Pan African to give Black people in America and the world over a symbol that unifies the Diaspora.
